Introduction to Lighting Design

Grades 7-12,  Cost $25

Instructor:  Jena Overbeck

September 24, 10am-12pm

 What role does stage lighting play in a production?  Why is it important?  Students will learn about the qualities of light, the functions of various lighting instruments and basic principles of lighting design.

 

 Technical Theatre Equipment (Lights and Sound)

Grades 7-12, Cost $25

Instructor:  Jena Overbeck & Applied Audio Staff

October 6, 6-8pm at APPLIED AUDIO

 This workshop will take place at Applied Audio, 2 Townline Circle, Rochester 14623.  Students will have the opportunity to explore and learn about lighting consoles, lighting fixtures, sound consoles and sound equipment.  This is a hands-on class. 

 

Theatrical Truth for Teens – Two Sessions

Grades 8-12, $25 for Part 1 ONLY, $40 for BOTH

October 6, 4-6pm, Part 1

October 27, 4-6pm, Part 2

  Students can register for Part 1 only or in both sessions.  Theses sessions will immerse the participants in scenes in order to identify the character’s objective, find motivation, recognize beats (transitions) in each scene, use pauses effectively, and evaluate character relationships. This in-depth study will give teens the skills to give “truth” to their acting.  If you attend both sessions, there will be homework for Part 2.

 

 Auditioning and the Rehearsal Process

Grades 4-12, Cost $25

 Instruction on getting prepared for your next drama audition, rehearsal etiquette, how to be a useful part of a cast while learning and having fun.

 

Dance Auditions—DON’T PANIC!**

Grades 7-12, Cost $25

November 8, 6-8pm

 Looking forward to auditioning for a musical but worried about the dance audition?  Don’t panic!  This workshop will teach you tricks of the trade to get you through any dance audition.  Terminology, how to remember the steps and how to sell it!  By the end of the night you will have learned an audition combination.

 

 Dance Ensemble—The Rehearsal Process**

Grades 7-12, Cost $25

December 13, 6-8pm

 What happens now that you have been cast in the dance ensemble?  This workshop will focus on combination work, how to work as a group (synchronicity, style) and how to work with a partner.                                 

 **Register for both dance workshops, cost $40 total.

 

Improv!

Grades 7-12, Cost $25

November 13, 2:30-4:30pm

 Ever seen “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” and wondered if you can do that?  Improv is acting without a script, making up the scene on the spot. Anyone can do it and so can you! Find out the tips and tricks of comedy Improv and what it takes to make a scene work. Improv skills really help with public speaking and character building!

 

Beginning Acting

Grades 4-9, Cost $25

Instructor:  Dianne Schaumberg

December 17, 9:30-11:30am

 One session covers what the beginning actor should know, including projection, enunciation, movement, reacting, stage listening and exhibiting confidence.  Participants will learn from instruction and through improvisational exercises.

 

Technical Theatre Portfolios – How to create one!

Grades 9-12, Cost $25

Looking to continue on in technical theatre?  Worried about what to include in a portfolio for college?  It’s never too early to start collecting things!  Learn what a college looks for in a portfolio.
